Does anybody know where to purchase cases(ones with foam inside) specially made for shotgun mics?
I am not looking for bulky Pelican case type cases.
thanks,
chi

What about this size of Pelican?

Actually, on closer inspection, it appears the interior dimensions of that case are probably too small. However, they have hundreds of sizes available. Take a moment to check them out at the above link, then buy from Rush at EVS. ;)

Re: mic case?

Chi, what kind of mic do you have? My AT came with a good case that I don't ever use because I just leave the mic in the blimp, and the blimp goes into a Vanguard case (one of three I carry with me).

Re: mic case?

I have a AT4073a
which came with a huge case(20" long for 9" mic)
It does not fit into my Pelican 1550 case. maybe I should keep my mic in the foam windscreen. :-/

Re: mic case?

Chi, my bet is we have the same case (my mic is the AT897).  Do you have a blimp that goes into one of your cases?  If so, just leave the mic in the blimp (makes setting up easier too...I hate those gaskets in the shock mount ;-) ).  The Vanguard cases that I use are the perfect size for the blimp plus the pistol grip (I use the K-Tek interally wired pistol, so if folds up rather nicely.)

I also just thought of another place you can look. Nady makes a couple of cases for their mics, but I'm not sure if any will be compatible for you.

Re: mic case?

Wrap it in a hand towel and stuff it in an empty Pringles tube! :) I did that for a few months until i found the right box...it worked great....of course it went into my gear bag...otherwise I might have been tempted to throw out the garbage. :'(

Re: mic case?

well i have the me-66 with the rycote dead rat fur windscreen and my wife had a bunch of these long cloth pouches with a drawstring closure.

she said they are for shoes and you get them at places that specialize in luggage and other travel misc.

with the fur windscreen i didn't feel it was at risk.

i also use these for my sennheiser handheld mic.
