Mic ALC

Well, you can assume any setting the designers have included in the menus has no yes or no answer... there are situations where either is OK.

That said, mic ALC is a limiter that in certain circumstances with unexpectedly loud sounds can be useful. In general, you're better off setting your signal levels so that ALC is not necessary, but if your situation is not well-controlled and you think there may be some surprises, it can add a level of protection. However, be careful, because with ALC on you won't see any peaks indicated, and may inadvertently turn the gain up too high so that the ALC is constantly pumping - an ugly sound. Set your levels with ALC off, and then turn it on if you think it may be necessary. And when it IS on, limit your EXPECTED peaks to about 3 blips below max so that you won't be engaging it except when something extraordinary happens.

ill give you a hint - with alc you can record perfectly distorted signal
or you can record perfect one without :-)
you just have to know more about your camera and microphone
by the way we are not shooting here features - we record dialog ,ambient, music or sfx
