Metallica: SKOM

Saw it friday, and loved it. Im not a huge metallica fan( in fact i dont own a single album of theres) but still enjoy them and am aware of their influence on the genre.

I really enjoyed this movie. Last year I rented A Year In The Life of Metallica and was pretty disapointed. in about 4 and a half hours the managed to give just about no information about the history of the band, how the band works, and the process of recording that album.

Some kind of Monster, is much more about the relationships of the members, the therapy, the rehab, and the loss of a bass player, and just for how they handle these, the movie is great and anyone interested in either Metallica, hard rock, or just likes Docs as much as me should check it out, But I personally (a bass player and drummer in several local rock bands) got a huge kick out of the studio footage where i can actually see them work.

Most of this footage is pulling double duty as it illustrates whatever narrative element the filmakers are pushing in that scene, but unlike the other metallica dvds, here u actually see how they wrote the songs on this last album and get to see the songs evolve into the form ur familiar with from the CD. Occasionally they might hit a road block and u can see that moment of inspiration where someone suggests a variation on the riff, or suggests different puncuation of vocals, or just a hook for lyrics, and being familiar with the final product, it just gave me chills.

lol sry, its hard to discribe. I fear ppl not familiar with the album might not enjoy it as much as i did since they might not understand the significance of these moments as I. Then again, I might be making these aspects more than they are just because im a musician who was specifically looking for them. Maybe most ppl will just enjoy the movie anyway.

So yeah, I'm taking some more ppl to see it later this week so I can see it again.

Anyone else see it?

Re: Metallica: SKOM

not taking in example Metallica, look at the most rotten clip from USA or West Europe, that this does not go nor in what comparison with "not bad " clip in Belarus.
There is specialists, there is equipment, there is all...
Only all this is not paid duly...

Re: Metallica: SKOM

I saw it and enjoyed it and I'm not a Metallica fan either. My question is: what camcorder did they use to shot the movie?
