Merry Christmas! This house gives Clark Griswald a run for his money...

A doctor in my small town has set up this display for over 31 years, now he's moving and a tradition ends. Shot on Sony FS7 at 1080 24P, Slog-3, Rec 709 LUT for monitoring.

Thanks for posting, at last we seem to be seeing some decent footage coming from the FS7, what are your thoughts on the camera. I keep reading about noise issues. Care to tell your settings grading etc?

Coming from the HVX200 to the AF100 to the FS700 to the FS7- well, the FS7 is light years better than the HVX from a noise perspective. This same footage shot with it would be terribly noisy in the blacks. It is also a slight improvement over the FS700. The Rec709 LUT I dropped on this footage last night (Film 2-Zero) is a bit contrasty compared to what I saw in the viewfinder, I may experiment with one of the others tonight and repost. There was no further grading on this footage, it was shot and edited in a couple of hours.

So far I'm really enjoying the camera and confident that when I get past the learning curve I can get excellent footage. You have to be careful not to get too mired down in all the technical stuff. It all boils down to getting exposure right, just like any other camera. If you get that right, the XAVC footage has enough leeway in post to get you where you need to be, without the HD space issues of RAW. One reason I'm using a monitor lut is so I can just expose at 90% zebras as I would normally and concentrate on composition, etc. Focus peaking works better too.

remember my Dad driving us around to see the Christmas lights...! great memory ..I miss him

That is an awesome display. Above my parents house and the house I grew up in there is a neighborhood that goes all out on Xmas display. About a miles worth of houses (like 50 of them) go head to toe in decorations. So much so that they have to hire police to control traffic and the wait in a car can be up to two hours. Maybe I'll get up there and film it before it's all over.

Here is a shaky video somebody did of it.
