Merlin w/Opteka Help

Long story short, I purchased the cheap Opteka steadicam vest to use with my Merlin. I have 3 different adapter posts, none of which fit the Merlin handle, not even close. I need to have this up and running in the next couple of days, and I'm hoping somebody can give me some ideas.

I thought about purchasing the arm post for the Tiffen Steadicam to Merlin, but I'm worried that it won't fit with the Opteka vest.

My other options would be to scrap the Opteka and buy a better vest, or try to rig up my own post.

Thoughts?
 
Take both vest and Merlin to a machine shop. Show them what you have and I'm sure they can come up with something. Just how do people survive with out a lathe and a mill anyway?

That appears to be the obvious answer, Bill, and yet I never would have come up with it. :embarasse

I think I can send it to work with my husband.
