Merging Projects

I am trying to merge several projects into one and have followed the instructions in the help file and it worked once. Every other attempt has resulted in only on track with a couple of clips moving to the destination project. When I hit paste, the curser jumps to the end of where it would be if the files came over, but nothing moves. Am I being stupid or is there a problem with my system. I am running Vista.

Are you copying and pasting the files or are you nesting the timelines? Why not work on the individual timelines until you have them done, and then just nest them altogether into one timeline?

I was trying the copy and paste method and it merged the two timelines I was trying to combine. When I tried adding another, things went bad and all that would copy are a couple of events in one of the tracks. The curser does jump on the timeline to where it would be if the project had copied.

I tried the nesting route and I would try and drag a project from explorer to the curser on another project and all that would happen is the project being dragged would replace the one that was open. I tried the same with Import-Media with the same results.

I thought I was being clever by doing this project as smaller units to make them more managable during editing, but now, with a deadline looming, I wonder.

I am using Vegas Platinum 6 Build 83 on the Vista OS. It seems so easy, but at crunchtime, nothing ever is. Should I uninstall and reinstall?

When you say you would drag a project from explorer - did you drag the Veg file? Try this:

1. Create a new empty project.
2. Drag each of your Veg files to the timeline of the empty project

Does this work for you?

Okay I tried that. I opened an empty timeline and dragged in my first .vf file and it landed perfectly. When I tried dragging in the second file with the cursor where I wanted it to start all it does is swap the files. The first one goes away and the second one replaces it. There is not some secret to this process is there? It seems so simple and all the suggestions from the tech at Sony Media were things I had tried by following the help menus. Then I get the "we're not supporting anything in Vista till the next version comes out" disclaimer. I seem to be 10 minutes away from finishing my project, but the end never gets closer.
