merging projects

If I have two different projects and I want to merge them into one project what would I do? If for instance I have two editors, one working on act 1 of a project and I'm working on act two, when we're ready to put the acts together into one project, what do we do?

Multiple ways. Here's a couple of easy ones:

1. In Vegas 6, simply drag the two VEG files to a new project. The nested VEG feature will handle this easily.

2. Render each act to a new file and start a new project with those files.

3. If you had the forethought to keep your tracks in the same order and number, you can just open two instances of Vegas and cut and paste one into the other.

Like Edward said, there are many ways of doing this with Vegas. Many people don’t realize you can have more than one instance of Vegas open and cut and paste between them because most other NLE’s won’t let you do that. This is what I did for training DVD’s before Vegas 6. Each chapter was a separate project and I would maintain the same tracks in all chapters and then just cut and paste them into a master project.

Now that I have Vegas 6, I do as Edward suggested using nested veg files but I can’t just drop the veg files into a master project because I would loose all my chapter points. If you have Vegas 6 and also have chapter points set in the individual projects, Ultimate S2 has a function that will import nested veg files with the markers for chapter points intact. This is something you don’t get with just dropping the veg files and can’t do with cut and paste.
