merge clip

I want to use the merge clip in the modify menu...how do you do it.I have sync my DAT sound to my video and instead of exporting to quick time I wanted the faster method of using the merge clip option.I cannot seem to make it work and I have tons of sound merging to make..thanks a lot

Do you have the 'Linked Selection' button activated? You can click it or use Shift-L. I don't believe you have to have this activated to Merge, but...

Anyway, to merge it should be a simple matter of:
- sync your clips
- highlight both the video and auio tracks to merge
- right-click and choose 'Merge Clips'
- choose your sync type from the dialog box (in-point, out-point, Timecode)

After that they should act like one clip.

If you still have problems you might look at creating another sequence and just nesting your synched footage into there.
