Mentioning another film in your film

I want a character to reference Shogun in a film. Is that dobable, or is there a big song and dance to get some release form?

Is it a short or something you plan on making money from? Just by name? Names aren't protected by copyright but can be protected by trademarks. A quick trademark search (free) will indicate if the name is trademarked in relation to the motion picture.
