Memorial Day

Here in America the last Sunday in May is Memorial Day. Not that I want to get political -- it's who I am, what I do. Oh but for the grace of God go I. In the five years I was there and before moving to California, my unit of the USAF Band and I marched and played for 4,200 funerals.

A little 3rd grader put it this way...

As the flowers rest on the decorated graves and the sunlight shines on the beautiful sailboats, Uncle Sam whispers in my ear about how we should care for the soldiers and remember the ones that have died. Swimming pools open, BBQs fry. Today is the day to think of what they have done for us. There are blurs of red, white and blue marching down the street and flags are lowered at half-mast. But we should always remember and never forget what set us free, from this very day on. -- Ali M. 3rd grader, Academy Elementary School, Madison, Connecticut.

We have many to remember this year.

1000 WWII vets continue to pass every day! I cut this last year the day after I got my DVX. Just thought I'd share again for a day.
