Memento

Seen it? I have watched it several times, although not recently. It is on my 5 foot shelf.
For as many consistency issues as this film could have had, I thought problems in this area were relatively minor considering they shot it in 14 days.
What are your general thoughts on the film?

i'm not discovering. Have seen it many times. and its 6 years old :) Just curious what people thought about it, considering most new releases SUCK and aren't worth discussing

Most new releases i'm waiting for, have yet to be released, so it's hard to say if they suck or not. On the other hand I think this is one of Cristian Bales best performances, gotta give it to him.

Christian Bale isn't even in Memento, dude. wtf is right.

And if you're just discovering Memento now....

Muahahahahahahahah!!!!

Momento was a combination of some great performances and a unique way to tell a very simple story. The script itself told any other way would amount to one of the worst most idiotic films of all time, yet the way it unfolds you are constantly shocked with the turns the film takes. This is a great example of point on editing and using a non traditional linear format to allow a story to unfold.

In today's world of constant twists, turns, and overly complicated plots that work to the detriment of story and require a complete suspension of belief and feasibility Momento stands as a great film with great execution.

Or at least it did when I last watched it 5 years ago...

The story would have been nothing without its backwards structure. I dunno. I think it's a pretty forgettable (no pun intended) gimmick film.

I agree with David.

I tried watching it again recently and couldn't get half way through it without being completely bored.

And that, my friend, is the nature of it's genius.

"I just saw Citizen Kane. I loved it."

"WTF??? Everytime I turn around, someone is discovering a 65 year old movie!"

"OMG this movie is old! You're JUSt now discovering it???"
