I want to do a visual effect in Sony Vegas that will make it look like a clock face is melting. Any suggestions?

To 'melt' an image with a Video FX, you'd need to gradually apply an appropriate deformation FX over the timeline of a video event. But looking at the standard FX, Wave is the best candidate I can see. Deform and Swirl don't look organic enough for what I presume you need.

Okay, I'll take a look. I have made a reverse mask on the top layer and tried various effects on the bottom layer, where the main face of the clock shows through. I just haven't found the right combination. I've mostly used defocus and a little color shift.
