Media Encoder wont export uncompressed avi CS5

Hey guys

Not sure whats going on, I'm at a total loss tbh.

When exporting from premiere as an uncompressed avi the program bypasses the encoder all together and a small box comes up in premiere with a progress bar (not something I have seen before using cs5). Unfortunately the outputted file results in audio but no video.

If I queue something up in the encoder using a different file type (such as h264, simply to get the file to open inside the encoder!) and then attempt to change the settings to an uncompressed avi it still wont have it.

Im wanting to be able to move between premiere into after effects without losing quality. If theres a far more efficient way to do this I'm all ears, but would also like to know whats going on with cs5 encoder if anyone can help?!

Cheers guys

There are now two options when exporting, you can either "Queue" which will send the file to Media Encoder or "Export" which will tell Premiere to do the exporting. However it sounds like you've turned off the video track in the encoding menu. Check on that first.

Please tell us exactly what you're clicking and the exact wording of the items you're choosing. I just tried to do what (I think) you're doing, and it worked fine for me.

What operating system? Exactly what version of Premiere Pro are you running? Have you installed the Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.2) update? That update fixes a lot of problems.

I got it the other way ´round. It exported a uncompressed AVI just fine (using "Queue" or "Export" ) and this AVI is running fine on the same computer, but not on other computers.

Did you guy´s change anything on that uncompressed codec Todd?

Frank, there are two types of uncompressed AVI files. Make sure that you're choosing the Microsoft AVI with compressor set to "None" instead of "Uncompressed AVI."
