Is anyone else interested in using Media 100? I cut some shows in 1999-2000 on Media 100 and LOVED the interface.
Now I see that ---belatedly--- Media 100 is coming out with a software-only version. Right now it supports SD and HD that was captured from a full Media 100 HD suite, and doesn't have it's own input/output. The final version is supposed to support DV and HDV capture/output.
Supposedly the current version will accept Quicktime files, so I guess you could capture in iMovie and bring it in to Media 100. Currently no support for 24P, so you have to shoot with the DVX in 24P(normal) and just edit the 29.97 stream.
Final pricing is like $695 - competitive with Avid and FCP but not low enough to generate huge excitement I think.
On a total aside, one of the things I **LOVED** about the Media 100 was the high-quality slowmo. Given 29.97 interlaced footage, it could produce liquid-smooth slowmo. I've never seen anything that good since.
Anyone else have any thoughts?
