Measuring light loss.

Hey guys,

For my dissertation at university I am testing a range of DOF adapters.

I am basically wondering if there is a standard way to work out light loss from an adapter? Do you just do it by eye with latitude charts or is there a more scientific way?

Another one to add on.

Same question but for lattitude.

I'm basically think of comparing histograms. Again is there a better/ more scientific way?
