Meaning of "allow" in budget spreadsheet

In a budget spreadsheet I downloaded from the Independent Feature Project of Chicago, there is a column called "units" which often contains the text "dys/wks", allowing you to circle one or the other to indicate that someone is working by the day or week. For example :
4 days x $100 = $400

Sometimes there's nothing in that column, because it's just a flat fee, not by the day or week.

All this I understand.

But sometimes the word "allow" appears in that column instead.

I'm not sure what that means. Anyone have any ideas?

Or you can download the spreadsheet at:

Sure, it simply allocates a figure without detail. For example, "Allow 1000.00" wardrobe would mean you would have 1000.00 to spend total..... detail budget might say 250.00- Hero#1 costume, 300-FemHero#1, 450.00BadGuy#1. The total of the detail is 1000 here.

Exactly -- it's a flat allowance. If you were to hire an artist to make your poster, you might track them by the hours and days and all that, but probably not -- you're probably gonna say "I'll pay somebody $500 for a poster" and in the budget you'd allow $500 on that item line.

When you were a kid, didn't your parents ever give you an allowance and you had to figure out how you were going to use it to make it through the week and pay for whatever you wanted/needed? Same deal. ;-)
