Hello everyone. I am going to Italy in October and need to find a decent windscreen for my me66 microphone. I just dont know which ones work the best for less than $150. I would like to stay below $150, which I hope is enough to get something that works well.

Re: Me66 and wind noise

if you are shooting outdoors you need a fur windscreen.
The Rycote Softie works very well and should be in your
price range. Do you have a shock-mount already? This
would also be a mandatory item to have.

ahh.. Look into a lightwave mini screen Rush at EVS knows he got me one.. he liked it too. Its definelty in your price range and should work well for your applicaton

Re: Me66 and wind noise

I just picked up a Mike Muff (www.mikemuff.com) which is basically just a furry sheath that fits over the regular foam windscreen for the me66. Both of these together cost about $80 and the results were surprisingly good in a light to moderate wind.

sounds like a great tip! why did you choose not to go with a Rycote? the price looks good on mikemuff.com.

I just paid $50 for rycotes for lav mics..and that blew me! so little furry for so much $$!

on a separate topic---if anyone is reading this, is there any shockmount for the me66 that really keeps the mic BACK? the one I have ( with the rubber rings securing the mic, forget the brand, beyerdynamic?) works okay, but people around me ( photographers) sometimes remark that the mic is humongous and slips into the shot on occasion.. well, I can't really disagree too much, but can't give it up either!
