Maybe the world is going mac

Hey
One of my neighboring counties had ibooks for all the high schoolers for the past couple of years. They did away with it and they decided to sell 1000 of them for $50 a piece. Here is an article that the local NBC station wrote. Check under multimedia for the slide shows, well worth it.
In the mad rush once they opened the gates a baby stroller was damaged, people were trampled, 5 people hospitalized, an old man with a walker was knocked down. What kind of people do this for a mac?

I wish I could have been there to see the look on peoples faces when they realized it didnt have windows..

crazy crazy crazy

Yeah, I think the stampede was for a $50 laptop, they probably didn't even know they were macs.

That said, three business close to me have moved to Macs in the past month, ten that I know of in my little community in the past six months. We're gaining.

in my senior year of high school, we all got laptops. Man, all we did was play games on yahoo all day.

Good times.

A mac for 50 bones...damn...I'd trample a woman for that...But only if it came with an extra battery...

no battery...I'd probably only trample an old man...

or a small child...

I would buy, say, a functional G4 laptop if I could get it for $50. Why the heck not? Multiple platforms never hurt.

Hey
Yeah I was thinking about going down there and getting one just to be able to learn my way around a mac. I have real limited use on it so I thought it would be good. But I also knew the amount of people going to be there. They have been advertising the sale for over a month now. And I didnt want to wake up at 2 in the morning to get a good spot in line.

A Mac laptop for $50 bucks. I would be right there in the middle of the pushing and shoving.

You misread the announcement. It actually said "McLaptop", and you used to be able to get them if you bought 10 Happy Meals.

I was just joking when I said this...

The whole story sounds like a good plot for DVX fest Zombie edition. Thousands of mindless zombies carrying those cute little white iBooks around, killing and maiming to get their hands on one. Someone should have taken their camera to it.

Hey
yeah I thought about it afterwards, unfortunately. I could have made it look like it was this mass crowd of people trying to escape the zombies... I actually wished I was there to tape just because it would have been fun to watch.

15 years from now, all the "film schools" in Vancouver will have a $50 DVX100a sale! That's $40 US!!! Glue and scotch tape is extra. Those kindergarten students were rough on them!
