maybe buying a used brevis...

hey everyone. I'm driving up to LA to meet with another DVXuser to check out some used gear he's selling, and there's a pretty good chance I'll buy it if its in good condition and the price is right. however, this will be my first 35mm adapter and so I don't know quite what to look for, aside from the obvious stuff. the adapter he is selling is a brevis r2 with a nikon mount. it is supposedly in nearly new condition, used only once.

so aside from looking at the obvious (lens scratches, cosmetic issues, loose parts) what kind of things should I be looking at when buying a brevis 35mm adapter that has been used before?
 
If you can, hook it up and shoot some footage with it.
That should be able to tell you anything you'd want to know.

I've had trouble with the build quality holding up on some older brevis units. Just make sure it's sturdy and turn it on and off a few times.
