Mattebox Y/N?

Hi guys,

I'm very close to purchasing my first DVX100A. First, let me say how much info I have gained from this forum. I have learned a great deal from your expertise.

Here's my question: Do I really need to invest in the Chrosziel Mattebox 4X4 kit if I'm not planning on purchasing the anamorpic lense? Pros/Cons.

Here is the list I have comprised. (Any suggestions would be appreciated as well).

DVX100A / 1.7 Tele-Converter Lense, .7x Wide Angle Lense. (Don't both of these lenses adapter right on to the camera or do I need an adapter ring?)

Zoe Zoom Control, Tripod (yet to be decided, I'm looking for a 2 stage fluid head-any suggestions), either a 1600 or 1510 Pelican Case.

Still undecided if I need a Filter Kit. I plan on buying the DVXuser.com 5600mah batteries.

Thanks.

Matte Box --

Hmmm... as I haven't bought one of these I can only share what an expert told me (hehe SD!!) --

If you ever try to stack filters on your lens you're going to get vignetting... not good. The mattebox will prevent that.

ALSO -- screwing things into your lens with those super fine threads is going to be problematic long term. One missed thread and you're hosed.

It isn't a cheap investment as the filters can be a huge cost. But - if you want to do THE BEST you should look to save some pennies for it.

Then again... I've seen people rip off that square box and just screw away on those cameras too... maybe they were't their own personal cameras.
