Mattebox with 138mm filter mount

I wanted to know which Matteboxes have a 138mm filter mount for pola filters.
I know the O'Connor has one, but is there any purge one?

15mm LW - swing away or non
With side flags and top flag
2+ filter trays + round tray
*Affordable!

Hopefully it's possible to find one.

Most matte boxes have a 138mm rear option. Even many of the cheap ones. And what do you consider affordable, $500, $1000, $2000???

They do?
I'd need to have at least 2- 4x5.65" filter trays plus the round one.

Around $1000 give or take. $1500 is really pushing it. Too expensive.

I just went though this exercise and ended up narrowing it down to one of the Movcam models. I have the exact model written down, but unfortunately I can't get at that information right now. It will take two 4x5.65 (one rotating) and then you can get a 138mm adapter for the back. I think it will even go up to a 5.65x5.65 tray. There are many different variations and combinations of the Movcam mattebox models, so try contacting the US distributor (16x9inc.com) to make sure you get the right model / adapter for the 138mm filters.

Take a look at this Youtube interview:

NAB 2012 - MovCam: Low cost quality follow focus and mattebox - YouTube

The Movcam came in around $1000 from a dealer in Los Angeles and in terms of sheer build quality there was nothing that could touch it in that price class. Way better than the Genus, Redrock or other brands in that range. Build quality and materials are excellent. This is very apparent the first time you pick it up. It's a traditional design, so don't expect lots of innovation like with a Bright Tangerine. I didn't notice any obvious design quirks in the store.

I felt that I would have to step up to something a lot more expensive from Arri or Chroziel to see an improvement in build quality and even then it wouldn't be day and night. I went to two dealers and both of them said that the Movcam matteboxes are selling really well.

Last week I received my Movcam MF-1 (v2) follow focus with the new style stops and I'm really impressed. For starters it's built like a tank. Picture a Arri FF-1 on steroids for less than $1000. These guys are putting out some really nice gear.

Yeah, I wanted the MM1 for quite some time, but I never knew it accepted 138mm round filters. It doesnt say anywhere it does. But according to the video you linked, it does?!
Guess, Im getting this mattebox for sure!

I also had no idea that their matte boxes took 138mm until a sales person at EVS pointed out that you can get a rear adapter. That's the problem with the Movcam line up. There are a lot of adapters and options that are not properly listed anywhere. It's all very confusing. But check with 16x9inc, bandpro or EVS in Burbank. Also double check that the MM-1 is the one you want. I wrote the exact model last week, but can't find the darn paper I scribbled it on.

But regardless this is the one I'm going for.

Movcam matteboxes are a great product. I've sold many of them and have a very happy clientele. They are built to last and have continuously worked to upgrade the product. Pricing is very good and this is a very cost effective product. Swing away, 138mm, two 4x5.65 filter trays- one rotating, top folding eyebrow, side wings. Very good value.
