Mattebox Compatibility With 35 mm Adapter?

I'm using a Cavision 4x4 mattebox with my M2. Photo on my website if you want to see the setup.
 
Here's a photo using an inexpensive cinetactics mattblox soft Mattebox and it work fine.

how does the mattebox hold ? is it on the lense ? or on the rods ? It doesn't seem like you could adjust the focus/aperture very easily with that setup, do you find any problems with that ?

Funny, never noticed I didn't have it on for that photo. But I do have the adapter ring and use it as needed.
