hello

even though i am trying TRYING to cut costs of buying stuff for my current (and first) project with the 100A it is becoming pretty apparent to me i am going to have to add a mattebox to my list of up-front purchases.

i plan on shooting with the panasonic anamorphic adapter. so has anyone used these cinetactics matteblox that are advertised here? and also the oversized french flag? i am guessing that i need both for the adapter right?

Hey.. the current matteblox wont fit with the adapter, but they are making one.

What works though is if you buy just the oversize flag and add some velcro stips on the body of the adapter it will fit perfectly onto the adapter, so it becomes a huge hood for the adapter, which is critical because there is no shade when you normally use the adapter.

do you know when this new one they are making is coming out? i would assume not in a couple months?

also do DVX members have any discounts through them?

youve convinced me (rather easily) that i need at least the oversize flag if the other one isnt being released soon.

Our current best guess for the Anamorphic is June, but it is just a guess. We have been trying out various configurations and have found what we think will work. The drawings are going off to our manufacturer this week, so we will have a prototype very soon. If they get it perfect on the first try, then we will will have it in stock in early June, if it needs a revision or two then late June or early July.

thanks for the reply. great to hear you guys are in fact working on one and are probably close. unfortunately for me i have my schedule all lined up for my next short and i will be done shooting in june. so hmmmmm.

maybe i should start looking for an attractive piece of cardboard until your anamorphic version is released. he he. yeah or just spend the $40 or whatever it is till then...it could make a nice hat i guess once i dont need it anymore. new age director's visor!
