Matt: something you said here in '04

No big deal... it's all good.:)

I never considered really marketing it... okay that's a lie... I actually talked Jarred about selling through DVXuser formally... but unless I charge "real" prices for these I couldn't afford to... I kind of like the idea of being this little hidden source of kick-ass stuff... that people have to know somebody to find.

Tig got some stuff from me recently for some DIY flo lighting and I thought he got cables from me in the past... but as I said, my memory may be wrong about that... all I was saying is that it would severly chap my ass if somebody got a cable from me and then bragged up how good the cable from some small company was, and didn't mention my cable... that's all. I recently sold off my excess StarQuad because I like the Musilux so much... I sold 25' starquad with black/gold color coded neutriks for less then $25 each... and I normally sell the Musilux with black/gold for $29.50... so if somebody got one of those from me and then said how great a $51 cable was from BJC... as I said I'd have fainted. I put a lot of care into the cables I make... I use silver solder and a $600 constant temp auto-feed solder station... then I use the latest gen neutrik and at the customer's request color code them for free. That little touch costs me between $.40 and $1.80 per cable depending on how it's coded... in the end I'm often making $8 or so per cable... so if somebody gets one of these from me and even compares it to a cable that's $21.50 HIGHER and built with lower grade cable and connectors... I'm gonna' feel like this :crybaby: ... but if they got a cable from me and actually bragged about how good an inferior cable was at nearly twice what I charged them... then I'd feel like the yellow guy here. :nads:

Next time I need a cable, Matt, I'll come to you.

Now, let me use a different analogy for T.H.E.: reminds me of the 5-person marketing firm I worked for, back before it was sold to a total jerk. Small and smart, in its day.

So if we can revisit my question: you avoid bringing that mic to some shoots because it's too valuable to risk or because it's more fragile than most?

It's blingy... but I like it... I didn't think it would be smart to bring a golden toy with me to haiti... the front grill is actual 24c gold... and it's blingy. I even said to the guys at sound room that they need to finish these things in gray nextel like Schoeps and Beyerdynamic... I think that should be the standard finish on ALL mics in fact. I can't believe they didn't make the new Schoeps CMIT in the gray nextel finish...

So anyway... I like the T.H.E. mic... I just haven't had it long enough to post some really good clips, because on every ocassion that came up to use it I've wanted my kit to look cheap.

Don't worry... I'll put something up within a few days at the most.

Does anyone have a link to that T.H.E. mic? I cannot find of google of course... and I have looked at a couple other sites. Just want to see what this is about.
