Matrox MXO2, confused. Does this replace my graphics card?

[mikecazzx]

I am interested in output to an lcd or plamsa as my fulltime editing display.

I have ordered a GT 240 for Premiere, but I noticed the Matrox seems powerful and is connected internally like a video card.

Is the Matrox integrated into the PC and Premiere in some way that it could replace my GT 240 card?

I know this seems like a stupid question, but who knows?

[Matt Gottshalk]

No.

The Matrox is for video and audio input and output only.

Your GT240 is for your computer display.

I believe the Matrox converts the signal from your graphic card to proper color space that are used in video in order to minimize mismatch when viewing footages.

[Matt Gottshalk]

The Matrox has nothing to do with your graphics card.

Understood, seems one can never get a break in costs. If I go with my plan, the video card will do nothing for me other than make Premiere work well. All monitoring will go to calibrated display off the Matrox.

Don't discount that.

With the Mercury playback engine, Premiere sings.

Not meaning to sound like I am discounting that, I agree its needed 1000%. It is just funny to upgrade your video card only to never hook a monitor to it!
