Are these levels that are embedded in the SDI stream and the RCA outs calibrated to FCP or are they adjusted via the headphone output adjustment?
 
They are calibrated to the FCP output..whatever the audio FCP sends to them is the audio. The headphone adjustment does nothing to this audio.
 
FWIW also note that the MXO audio output is time-delayed to match the image on the MXO display, which is also delayed due to the video processing time on the MXO itself. If you use built-in audio with the MXO image it will be ~5 frames 'early'. This had me flummoxed for a while after I installed it. I hate it when that happens...
