Is there anybody here running a matrox rt2500 card with an 865 chipset? I'm trying to go faster on my motherboard by updating but not shure if it would be compatible with matrox rt card....Anybody?

I'm not running the Matrox, but I have wondered something for a while. What is your avatar of Mino? Is it yourself as a young lad?

I have the RTX100 and thought about doing the same. Asked Matrox about what I wanted to do and if it would work. Got the standard reply of "if it's not on the compatible list they can't guarantee". Argh.

These dang Matrox boards are so picky it makes me paranoid changing anything in a working system.

Yep...That's me as a young lad....I'm hoping not to have to change edit cards, but I just bought a new mobo ram and cpu. If Matrox doesn't support it I'll buy something that will like pinnicle etc! I get tired of the matrox attitude too!

wouldn't count on it

I used to have the RT2500 (in fact, I guess I still do, it just isn't in a running computer), and now use the RTX100.

If the motherboard you are talking about has a VIA chipset, the answer is most definately no. VIAs are notorious for making Matrox stuff fail.

Basically, Matrox says they don't support most configurations because their card is VERY finicky. The RTX100 is way better.

Good luck with that.

Yup. Since they have decided to not support any progressive modes with the RTX100 I am probably going to get rid of mine. They have a newer system that supports 24p, HD, etc.. but its a lot higher price point. Plus, I've invested a chunk in this system. Argh. It's a real bummer since, when it works, the RTX100 makes production fly.

Matrox is fighting a tough battle. They have Canopus on one side and Pinacle on the other, plus Avid reaching down into their real-time card market.

I was as dissappointed as any to discover that Matrox would not allow support for 24P on their RTX100 product, as the whole point of that card was to 'grow as your system grows.' There is no technical reason that the RTX100 cannot support 24P natively; Matrox has simply made the market decision to make you go to their Axio product.

But, the RTX100 is hard to beat in the standard def 60i space. Which is why I hate to admit it, but I'm taking a serious look at Axio if and when I move to high def with the new HVX camera. Axio looks like a KILLER real-time editing system, and you'll not be able to match features in the high def world without spending 10s of thousands more, me thinks.
