matching preview monitor

Hello:

I've noticed whenever i print to tape from my time line the tape does not match the preview monitor in vegas. in the preview monitor it shows the hole picture, but when i print to tape it takes a little around all the edges. This is a problem to me because it cuts out some important things (I did a close up of a letter on my project and on the print to tape version some of the letter's are missing around the sides of the picture, but on the preview monitor version everything is there). My question is would there be away to fix this so i get exactly what i see in my vegas preview monitor.

My project properties are:
Width 720
height 480
pixel to aspect ratio: 0.9091 (Ntsc DV)
motion blur type: gaussian

Any help I would be really grateful for

Thank you

I assume you're watching the tape on a TV?

Everything gets printed to tape, but your TV does not show all of it. It's called "overscan," and every TV does it.

To see what you're probably going to miss on a TV, click on the arrow next to the little tic-tac-toe board above the preview window. Choose "safe areas." You'll see two dotted-line boxes appear. The outer box is the boundary of where (probably) your TV is going to cut things out; the inner box is where you should keep your text if you want to make sure it will all be on the screen.
