Matching Cameras?

I'm nearing the start of shooting for a short, the director wants a specific shot that I don't know if it will be possible to shoot with my HVX. The shot is from the ceiling of a bedroom shooting straight down to the floor. We'd like to get it as wide as possible, problem with shooting it with the HVX is that it's only an 8 foot ceiling, so I'm not sure I will be able to get wide enough with an HVX+adapter. So, what I am wondering, how reasonable would it be to shoot the shot with a HDSLR? I have a Nikon D90, but can get my hands on some Canon models. What sort of problems may/will I run into matching the majority of the film on the HVX to shots from an HDSLR?

You'll almost certainly need to do some post-production adjustment to match white balance, exposure etc, but that's unavoidable.

Why not just set up both cams side by side now and film a wall 7 feet away, adjusting both cams to match as well as you can, then see how the shots compare in your NLE? They match beautifully, they may mismatch horribly, but better to find out any problems now rather than during actual post-production.

Whatever you plan on doing, make sure your idea works before you end up wasting everybody's time.

I would say shoot something with various colors, a little white, red, blue, green, black: something diverse with colors, and try to get the cameras as close as you can and fine tune in post. Its going to be very difficult to get them to match exactly because of different sensors, compression, etc.
