Mastering EX1 to HDV???

Fourth Line

We have a little dilemma. We would like to have a tape master of our project (about 4 minutes). The footage was shot on an XDCAM 1080p24. We edited everything in FCP.
Now I know what I am thinking at this point - just master to something like PreRes and burn a databDVD and put it on the shelf. We do indeed to plan to do this. But we also have a Sony HDV deck. It would be nice to have a HDV tape version of the material so when we project at places like a conference we have something that is solid in playback.

So it's not absolutely necessary to do this - I am just curious about if and how this can be done.

Thanks

You'd need to convert your sequence into which ever flavor of HDV you'd be outputting to.

Not saying youre wrong, just a reconfirmation as I thought just print to tape from the originating timeline to the HDV deck, and the deck (hardware) will do the conversion - much better than the software? Incorrect?

AFAIK know if you are going over FW you have to send an HDV signal to an HDV deck. Same as with DV.

This is what we have tried - from a 1080p24 sequence we have tried to select Print to Video. The message that returns is "sequence is not compatable with Print to Video."

Assuming that we need to convert the sequence to an HDV stream, do any of you have a recommended work flow for that?
We have tried to export and M2t file through compressor and then bring that back into FCP, but that doesn't seem to work.

I think the deck is expecting a 1080i60 signal so you'll probably have to convert it. Assuming this is a Sony deck. If it's a JVC deck it's probably expecting a 720p signal.
