Hi
could someone go into detail about masks in vegas

Re: Masks in Vegas

I beleive that the video in question was done with a green screen. I think he used a garbage matte to get rid of everything else. Basically the mask is found in event-pan crop tab on each file. Enable the mask by clicking the checkbox at the bottom. You can then basically cut a hole in the layer that you are working on, to see the layer below. You can keyframe these besier masks just like you would anything else in vegas. You can also set the feather for the edge so that it is not a sharp edged hole.

How do you draw on the layer. I was trying to do this with the anchor tool and I can just never understand how to draw a square or a circle or something.

If you want a simple square or circle, use the Cookie Cutter effect tool. Bezier masks are for complex shapes.

I know but how do you draw those bezier masks?

Anchor tool?

I can't seem to make it like... connect and finish the design.

For example I might want to trace around somebody's eyes and fill them with something else...

hey... quick one...

is there something that I need to enable to allow for the PATH tools to be enabled?
(they are gray)

I am trying to feather the edge of this cutout which is covering a flare

I got it to work but I am not sure I know how :p

I think I had to click on the diamond on the PanCrop time line... was that it?

If you are talking about Feather (%) being grayed out under Path, first you need to select a Feather type. Change Feather type: from None to Both (or In or Out) and then Feather (%) will be ungrayed (i.e, active). Now adjust the Feather (%) to the amount you want.
