Marshall V-R70P-HDA 7" monitor accessories

I'm buying one of these from a guy selling on the dvxuser marketplace. What I'm buying is just the basic setup. Basically this: http://www.evsonline.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=VR70PHDA

I have a few questions about accessories for the monitor. First, is it worth buying the nebtek adapter (http://www.nebtek.com/proddetail.php?prod=LIBA) for $119 so I can use my panny batteries? Anyone know what kind of battery life the pannies will give me with this Marshall? The monitor already has the v mount though. Would it be money better spent on a v type battery? I can pick up one of those for around $200. What kind of battery life would I get with one of these? I'm kind of leaning towards the adapter though since I have 5 or so pannies already, and it's about half the price of one battery.

I also need a way to attach to my camera. For the time being, I just want something to attach it to the hot shoe on my hvx. Is there a cheapish way to do that? When I pick up a rails setup (something like the red rock micro shoulder mount probably) I'll have a nicer way to mount it.

Last thing. Do I need some kind of bracket to mount it upside down for adapter use?

Thanks for any pointers!

I have this monitor with the Nebtek Panasonic battery adapter. I like it a lot. The battery life is around maybe 2 hours on a fully charged 5400mAh.

There are two different ways I mount the monitor to the camera, it depends on the usage.

1. A Hama mount to a HDV Bracket (to take some stress off the actual handle of the cam).

or

2. UltraLight arm

Available at Film Tools in Burbank. I think these arms are better than Noga (and cheaper).

Order some extra mounts from Marshall so you can orient the monitor however you need to.

thanks dc! i spent some time reading through various threads but wanted some specifics so thanks for your answers. especially regarding the battery life. i'm surprised the pannies will last that long. great news. i had already pretty much decided to just get the nebtek adapter so that pretty much seals the deal. a lot of people pointed out the advantage of only one battery/charger type on shoots and it makes perfect sense to me.

thanks for your mount solution as well. until i get a new rails setup the marshall will be non run and gun only, so this fits my needs perfectly.

thanks!

If your V mount comes off of the monitor, I would be willing to do a trade of some kind for the Panasonic mount from Nebtek. I'm looking to do the opposite of you, as I have three V mount batteries, and also a Nebtek Panasonic adapter off a blocking monitor which I sold. Thanks, Matt.

that would be sweet. i probably won't have the monitor until next week. (sister is picking it up in nyc sometime this week, then shipping it to me)

when i get it i'll take a look. does your panny mount just snap off? i wasn't sure if the panny somehow clicked into the v mount, or directly into the monitor itself. if it mounts directly into the monitor, i would assume it is the same for the v mount. i'll let you know when i get the monitor.

@ slimchrisp: Yeah, cool! Also, I have found that using a certain brand of non-Panny batteries work just as well with the camera and the Nebtek adapter. I forget the actual brand name, but EVS carries them and they're about half the cost of the Panny ones. Be careful, because EVS will likely tell you that they won't work on the Nebtek adapter. But I own multiple ones and I attest that they work absolutely fine for me.
