I was just watching Marooned (1969) on Encore this morning (Gregory Peck, Gene Hackman). I remember seeing that as a kid in the theater and thinking how cool it was back then. I still remembered the line, "How about the two big guys throw the little guy out," when they have to decide about the remaining oxygen.
Anyway, I'm posting this because, I'm still amazed at how realistic, technically the mission control dialogue was. The space suits looked great. The mattes are a little dated, but you buy it because they show full-sized, mock-ups of the rescue spacecraft in live action photography. Even the network news cameras are portrayed fairly accurately (for the time). It's a bit melodramatic in moments, but damn, what a great space movie! If you get Encore, try and catch it this month! Just checked Amazon--it's also available on DVD.
