Mark Litwak Seminar

Anyone been to a Mark Litwak seminar? Are his talks strictly for novices, or would filmmakers with intermediate and advanced knowledge of the industry benefit, as well?

He's coming near my town and I'm wondering if it's worth it to shell out for seminar fee and a hotel room.

I attended his "Dealmaking in the New Hollywood" seminar about twelve (yikes) or so years ago. I thought it was great. If you are an independent filmmaker and are serious about the next steps for getting your films made/distributed he'll help you out, in my opinion.

you will learn all there is about entertainment law --

if you're in a position to make a, say, $3-$7 million movie, you'll benefit by the procedures of how to use the money and how to protect yourself when signing a deal with distributors (assuming they want your film)

if you're not in a position to secure a few million dollars yourself from private investors, investment bankers, distribution companies, major studios, then read some books on entertainment law

you can google entertainment contracts, actor release forms, SAG contracts, distribution contracts, investment letters, etc.

If this is too much trouble, attend the seminar and you'll get it in one shot
