MARCH DVXfest Winner

I don't mean to be sarcastic or a party pooper
but why do they call this files "FILMS"?
are they shot on FLIM? why aren't they called tapes? (even dumber I guess)
like submit your tapes by april 30th or something
or your .mov's, or submit your .wmv's, no real media pleasssssssseeeeeeee
I don't know, I see all this FILM production companies arround here....
I know it's something irrelevant
well i guess I'll call mine FILMS too but it will only become a FILM after is taken to a lab and transfered
but I was just wondering where did they got that from

like digital hotacakes where did they got that from?

any south park fans in tha hiz house?

In this context, film has a more generic and universal meaning. It's equivalent to a movie or motion picture. I'm pretty sure that the terms film and filmmaker are going to long outlast the actual medium of film itself. Language is like that--plastic and evolving. We still say gaffer, but have you ever seen a gaffer with an actual gaff?--man that would be scary. So even though the name originated referring to the actual medium--it really describes the process more than the medium. No one submits tapes to the DVXfest, they submit URLs--hmmm, URLmakers? The actual medium itself has never been more irrelevant to the process of making movies.

"any south park fans in tha hiz house?"<----------Not quite sure what "hiz" means, but "house" doesn't mean house. See what I mean.
