I've read some rave reviews on bhphoto about this field recorder and probably I will consider it instead of getting a Tascam DR-100 or Fostex FR-2 LE. It also contains a stereomic for athmo, which is handy. Price is the same as fostex, but this one looks more solid. Is there another field recorder I should consider? What is your impression?

It is pretty nice. The Tascam HD-P2 is also very nice, but a bit more expensive. If you need more channels the Edirol R44 is pretty cool as well.
You may want to consider the Oade Brothers modded versions which are not much more expensive.

I recommend either that or the Fostex FR-2LE. The Fostex works better in a bag its a great recorder to use in the field if you need knobs and what not. It was my first recorder I owned and I still have. I just use it as a backup recorder and mainly use my Sound Devices 788T.
