Manufacturers! Give me a small, lightweight collapsible boom arm!

I guess many are using small LED fixtures when traveling/flying and besides the shortcomings, it´s still better than lugging around 12V belts and PAGlights;)
One thing I´m missing badly is getting the lights closer to the subject, without getting the tripod into the frame.
What´s normal with regular fixtures on set, should be doable with LEDs too.
So - are there any small booms, with dedicated mounting solutions for this already?
Another application would be for mounting a Rode VideoMicPro or similar small microphone.
Just to make sure: It should fold down to fit into carry-on luggage length wise. And I´m thinking more of carbon fibre than metal...

Spartacus, might this help?

Watch his videos, he's a hoot. I bought six of his C-Stands, very well made.

Thanks for the link, Mike!
I was hoping for a more lightweight solution (even though lightweight and boom are somehow opposite...), as said, sth like a small audio boom.
I found this DIY project: http://www.diyphotography.net/diy-a-telescopic-pvc-boom

There are many results when you search for "telescoping carbon pole", but most seem to be for cleaning purposes and thus are very long and big in diameter.
I´ll contact some of the suppliers anyways and see what they can tell me...

EDIT: Maybe sth like this is a start http://www.amazon.com/Opteka-X-ARM-...d=1361383082&sr=8-2&keywords=monopod+handheld

Interfit makes their own version of the Manfrotto Combi boom. It's the lightest I've found at 3.5 pounds. A tad less if you shed those terrible reflector clips. You'll also need to swap out a few of the cheap knobs that you can get on Amazon or eBay. I use a gear bag as a counterbalance, and you'll definitely need to counterbalance since it's not made to support a heavier load without one. Most Combi booms are built that way. You can't just crank them down. Even my Avenger baby boom is like that. After that, it's a very serviceable lightweight stand.

Hey DNN,
don´t want to be a smarta** while asking for suggestions, but please note that I wrote should "fit into carry-on luggage" :)
I really looking for something ULTRA PORTABLE.

How about a Rode boom pole locked in a Boom Buddy on a light weight Manfrotto stand?
With a little counter weight that should hold an LED panel..... I think, please test it for me ;)
