Saw this little indy film last night. I must say I just randomly picked it to watch not knowing anything about it just because it was independent. And I was blown away. This was an excellent movie.

It was shot digitally with available light around New York City. It doesn't look that great, but after a while the story and characters just draw you in. After watching the movie, I looked it up and come to find out it won several awards, including the Sundance Grand Jury Prize in 2003. I'm just surprise I haven't heard of this until now.

Anyway, check it out if you guys ever get a chance, it was great direction. It goes to show what a director can do with little to no resources.

Here's the IMDB page

I had seen this movie on cable a few years ago. You are correct…it didn’t look all that great….but the story drew you in. It made a star out of the lead actor though. I’ve since seen him in many feature films…including one of the “Saw” movies.

Yup that's true. Frankie G is his name, but I haven't seen him in anything else. But I wanted to know what other films the director has done and he has a sophmore film maybe I'll check out.

I just love finding little gems like this.

Yeah Frankie G, saw him in that movie "Confidence" with Edward Burns, Rachel Weisz and Dustin Hoffman. Frankie has a powerful presence and a strong voice. I expected to see him more often, but nothing so far. He was also in "The Italian Job"

He’s currently filming a movie called ‘Devils Tomb” which is in post production.
Some other things he has done since 2002:

- Manito in 2003
- TV show called “Smith”
- TV show called “Johnny Zero”
- Saw 2
- Saw 3
- “Wonderland” in 2003
- “The Italian Job” in 2003 and one of my favorites (I hope they come out with a sequel where Ed Norton tries to get his revenge…lol)
- “Confidence” another one of my favorites
