Jack Stanley uses it and gets good results with it. You might want to PM him for his opinion on it.

Also check the DIY sectoin because there have been people who have made their own.

I used it for my zombie film. It's pretty cool. Think you could make your own for alot less than $300 though. I'm pretty sure they cost somewhere around there.
