Manfrotto 701, Gitzo 2180 or something else?

I'm creating a lightweight tripod that I can take around with me for a lot of travel. I've settled on the Gitzo GT2531LVL legs and now I'm trying to figure out what tripod head I want on it. I need the head to be super light. I'm considering the Manfrotto 701 HDV and the Gitzo 2180. Thoughts on that choice? Another head recommendation would be welcome too if someone thought another one was better. Again, I'm trying to keep everything as light as possible.

#1: How heavy a payload do you need to support with the head?
#2: What is your budget?

As a side, if you need to get really low shots you may be limited with the center column on the Gitzo.

Luckily, I have no budget. I have the funds for a good head. The payload is never more than 8-9 pounds. Sometimes i use an HMC-150 and deck it out with a Small DP6 and a shotgun mic and a wireless receiver. It doesn't get heavier than that. I'd be willing to pay more for a good head, but I want to keep things as light as possible. Thoughts? Thanks for any forthcoming advice. These forums are a godsend!

I'd look beyond the 701. I use one atop a monopod, but never in place of a real fluid head.

Look at spending more on your head than your legs. Perhaps the Satchler Ace would fit your needs. I've only handled on very briefly when looking at something more substantial, & didn't draw any conclusion, but in general Satchler heads are much better than Manfrotto's.
