Manfrotto 535 anyone?

Twenty year Gitzo carbon fiber tripod user here, looking to pick up some Manfrotto 535 CF legs. I'm tired of the Gitzo twist mechanism- need something faster and easier. Apart from giving Vitec anymore of my money, my only question is with the 535's, is durability of the flip locks on the 535/536.

Are they holding up for you?

How often do you need to adjust the tension on the clamp bolts in order to maintain proper clamping function?

Happy with them in general?

Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm not a heavy user of my 536 but after 5 years with it they are holding up like a champ. They seem pretty solid me and should give you good service if your gear isn't abused to much. I would imagine a drop or a fall could loosen them up however.

I don't own a set, but I have seen the clamp levers get broken off. Not the easiest thing to open afterwards.

Thanks guys...keep them coming.

Kind of like opening an old style Pelican case with a broken off latch :-o. Might be prudent to keep some spare clamp lever around. This is the reason I've stayed away from this design for so long, but after twisting Gitzo clamps for near thirty years, I think I'm ready to go the lever clamp route. I have a few Manfrotto still tripods, and they have spoiled me.
