Manfrotto 509HD+545BK vs. E-Image

Heya...

I'm about to upgrade my stills tripod to a more decent video tripod, and I've been lurking a lot around the 509HD 545BK setup.

But here's the deal... the supplier just wrote back to me that they can't get the tripod until sometime august and then offered to suggest another product. Out of curiousity I asked what they wanted to suggest and they mentioned the E-Image series of tripods, more precisely the E-Image EG08A2 tripod kit which supports up to 8kg.

But I don't know this brand at all, and browsing through Google it hardly comes up in any of the forums. What more the range of it is only 80-170cm.

So while this should be a made choice, I'm now in a dilemma. I think I've found somewhere else where the Manfrotto kit is in stock, so I might go to them instead, but would have to pay an additional 50 pounds there for the same thing.

Any of you have ANY experience with the E-Image system?

What about the 509HD 545BK setup? Is the 536 legs a better bid?

I like the idea that the payload range on the Manfrotto is that large, since I also do a fair share of rental on the gear I acquire, so the tripod would bridge from rigged DSLRs to RED / Alexa systems. And from what I read the 504 wasn't that great.

Thanks in advance....

I dont know E-Image, but I do know 536, b/c I have one.

IIRC 536: weight 3.2kg, max load 25kg, fully extended height about 2m, folded down to about 75cm or so. The biggest advantage of having it is its impressive max height (you'd have to pay much more to get a similar pod from Gitzo). The biggest disadvantage is, you can't put it in a regular suitcase when traveling.

Thanks... those 536 does look very nice with nice versatility.

Apparently Manfrotto are having a hard time meeting demands, so I ended up going for the 509 /545 solution with a mid spreader. The 536 would be interesting to buy along the way as I can easily see how nice they would be to log around without that spreader.

I have the same tripod/head setup. It is heavier than I anticipated but the head is nice. I also have a Libec RS-450RM and purchased the floor speader separate which came out less that the same tripod/head combo with the floor spreader. They both have very similar specs when it comes to weight handling and both of them can handle the fully loaded AF100 rig I put on it.

I know Libec isn't as popular as Manfrotto, but I like mine just a hair bit more than the 509 and I believe most people that have a Libec will tell you that the quality of the head is superb considering its price point.
