Manfrotto 504 Head

I'm looking at the 504 head to hold my 14lbs rig. I have tripod legs, however, they have a 3/8" thread. Can you remove the half ball on the 504 head to be used with 3/8" legs?

No. It might have a removable stud so you could screw the 3/8" directly into the bottom of the half ball, but the ball itself isn't removable.
