Manfroto 400 Geared Head

Has anyone strapped a video camera onto one of these? I know this is not what it's designed for, but I've seen an odd review or two here or there. They're nomering it HD 400 Geared Head also. Looks like it's single speed, don't know which. Has similar 30/deg 90/deg specs as a a proper geared head.

Any commentary on this item welcome before I troop to B&H with my HVX200 to try it out.
 
Does B&H let you walk in with your own camera? If no one else chimes in, and you end up heading to B&H, would you mind recording a clip and posting your results? I'd like to know how smooth it looks.

At the very least I know for a fact they'll let you use your own media to film onto - through their demo units and watch it at home. The only thing that may be of concern is if it's not an item that's on the floor. I know a pro renal place will let you mess around with the gear but most wont carry that gadget.
