Man v. Wild

:cheesy: The whole point in my original reply was that WE... are filmmakers. WE understand that we are working for a product and that there's no legal contract with the viewer to be actually doing what you represent yourself as doing.

It bugs me when I see things posted on DVXuser as if our membership is not above the process... when I see fellow production people fooled by production, I have to point it out. In this case I was way more correct then I thought when I first replied to this thread.

All I'm saying is don't believe everything you see... and I sure wouldn't feel the excitement of a show about survival when they make it obvious the guy doesn't actually have any challenges in surviving... meaning we can see that the show is skillfully shot by a cameraman, and by default there are only 1 of 2 things possible... either that cameraman is either MORE bad ass then Bear because he's doing all the same challenges while ALSO shooting a show... OR the host has THE OPTION of partaking in the comforts that are available to the cameraman when he's not on camera... which is why I said earlier that I strongly doubt he ever drank his own pee, for example.

Yes, Survivorman COULD very well be fake as well... but personally I doubt it. If nothing else, Survivorman is done is such a way that you can't tell if there's any support crew... and what's more bothersom is that Survivorman quickly became popular and then Man v. Wild decided to try and grab some of that success with a heavily produced show and blatantly staged survival situations. Does that make it a bad show? Heck NO!... I watch that show also... it's the only way I felt qualified to reply to this thread in the first place.

Ever seen Beakman's World? In the first year they were syndicated on 250 stations... exactly one year later we get Bill Nye the Science Guy... pff... I'd rip them just the same... even though I liked both of those shows as well.

I wanted to dig this up to post this clip someone showed me a while back.... I thought it was pretty funny... it's a survivorman vs. bear clip, of course:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2j_LkdCt2P8

Looking at some of the related clips, I also watched one of Bear where he was floating down some rapids using nothing but a self-made floatation device.... but, you can clearly see he has a life vest underneath his clothes....

Anyways, enjoy the clip above.

Later,
Jason
