This trailer makes it look like Terrence Malick's Superman...which would kind of be bizarrely awesome. But I know it's Zach Snyder's Superman so I'm sure this trailer is a total misrepresentation. I like that it seems grounded in reality, visually speaking, and isn't a green screen fest which is what I was fearing from Snyder...and of course it's another reboot of a superhero movie, but I'm just resigned to the fact that the next decade of filmmaking is going to be recycled reruns of stuff I've already seen recycled before. Kind of depressing to contemplate.

I also love the 'realism' approach, which I'm curious to see how Snyder brings his style to it. Some internet folks seem to hate the 'brooding' look of it, but I feel like we'll see something more exciting in the next trailers. Plus if by brooding they mean 'real', then I'm all for it.

Sounds like they're talking about Superman as a symbol as well. Sounds very Nolan-esque, with what he did for batman. Very true with superheros in general, especially one as grand as superman.

I think Zack Snyder has a lot to offer visually to a reboot of Superman. He's got a great sense of action and spectacle, and I think he's one of the few directors out there who could feasibly get their head around Superman's powers and abilities enough so to make a flick that's full of surprising and engaging action sequences that aren't just a bunch of explosions or thousands of cuts. My main worry is that Snyder typically hasn't been identified as a great character director, or a particularly good story teller -- and both those things are very important to a successful reboot of Superman. I have hope though, that with Nolan involved, Snyder is able to latch onto some aspect of the character of Superman that frames him in a way that's both heroic, relatable, and interesting because honestly it exists there. Superman is a character that despite all his superiority to mankind, chooses to identify himself as their equal.

I like where the trailer's leading us...I only hope I'm not disappointed.

With both comments, I don't think it'll be any bad. Chris Nolan can help being behind Snyder, to add what's Snyder might not be able to bring. I'm confident it'll be great.

He works on a crab boat?

The movie focuses on a period of time when he isn't sure what he's going to do with his powers as a young man. You know in Superman 1, when he leaves the farm, next scene he's at the fortress of solitude. This movie is presumably what happened between those two scenes.

I'm not a Snyder fan at all. He's a visual genius but a terrible story-teller. That being said, best teaser trailer i've seen in a while. The cinematography looks frigging beautiful. I sincerely hope Snyder has learned a lot from working with Nolan. If so, this could be great. I'm officially interested.

Well that's exactly what I feel about Snyder. Great visual Director, mediocre writer. As long as he has a good writer, he can pull off something great. Sucker Punch was all him, thus the awful story. Man of steel, he's just the director, with someone (one of the writers of Dark Knight Rises) as the main writer. According the imdb Nolan also had a hand in the story... so it should be interesting.

I think it's a winning combo.

Trailer showed nothing but yet it was interesting enough to not dissapoint. As others have said before, visually I couldn't see anyone else directing a movie like Superman, Snyder is the king of Action today. And with Nolan behind the story it will help Snyder craft things nicely, but it's all hopes, lets just wait and see but if I was a betting man, I would bet it won't dissapoint. But of course I'm hoping for more than not dissappoint.

This teaser poster just came out. Interesting. What kind of handcuffs can hold someone like Superman? I'm curious about that more than anything.

I'm sure the handcuffs, if they're even in the movie, are largely symbolic. Superman is a law-abiding character, and if the the authorities decided to arrest him for a legitimate reason, he'd comply.

Bingo. People miss that and go straight for the literal. Typical...

The landscape, the laundry lines, and the scene where he tries to stop a car reminds me of the first 10 minutes of First Blood.
