Mall commercial

I may be off to shoot a second commercial for the mall which I shoot a commercial for before. <-- does that make sense? lol

In my last commercial, we had a budget to rent out basic gear, a camera and misc stuff.
It also focused on the entire mall.

This time, they want us to focus on the new Target store that opened up to advertise that it's now open.

A few questions.
This time we are on an even lower budget. I will have to use my DSLR along with basic arri Fresnel lights, gels, diffusions, reflectors and other very basic accessories.

I'm wondering, firstly, how do I focus on a particular store in the mall? I'm not creating the story, but maybe some tips and possible ideas?

Main thing I'm wondering is lighting commercials. I believe I've shoot only 1 or 2 before and I didn't know a lot. When it comes to lighting commercials, what makes them different from other productions like shorts or features?
Does the lighting have to be more larger and flat looking?
We will have very low amount of equipment this time. Last time they paid for our gear, this time it's just or services and a little bit for providing our gear. They don't want it over complex and expensive. It will be aired in the theater they have, the tvs inside the mall and a few local TV stations.

Lighting is always motivated by the story you are trying to tell. What's the story?

What feeling are you trying to evoke? "YAY, Targets open"? I would say High Key bright, cheerful, fast cutting showing off different parts of the store, what is Target's selling point? They have everything...food, clothing, housewares, etc...

Timelapse can be fun for something like that and would add high production value to a low budget spot. You should be able to get by with available light for most of it and a bit of accent light depending on the shots and story you want to tell.
