Making wide screen titles

How do i make my titles and color mattes wide screen? It looks pretty weird to jump between widescreen and 4:3 ... Final Cut Pro 5.1

Also while i am at it - is there a better way to have the background on a title be a color other than white besides having a blank matte behind it? Am i missing a really obvious option somewhere?

OK I just figured it out about the titles - so for anyone else trying to figure this out - you just double click the clip go to motion - distort and change the aspect ration to -33.33

Still not sure about the background color of titles though
