Making the leap

Hi everyone, I wasn't sure where else to post this but I just registered on this forum. I'm a film student in Boston and just yesterday put in my order for a DVX100b after being a loyal Sony customer for almost 10 years. This past summer I bought one of their professional HDV models and thought it was complete garbage so I put it on eBay and immediately ordered a DVX because, frankly, everything that I've seen that has been shot with that camera has blown my mind. I mainly do documentaries and sometimes weddings, but I may do some films with it so the 24p ought to come in handy. This seems like a great site and I look forward to learning and making some connections!

Cheers, guys! :)

Welcome! I used to be a Sony guy too, but then I saw DVX footage and I was hooked. You'll love it.

out of curiousity...

WHy DVX- instead of HVX?

Other than cost that is--but if your doing weddings, it seems like you could recoup the costs quite easily.

That being said, I have a very trusty PD150 that has been through hell with me, and I too had to get a dvx after they intorduced 24p. I went in B&H and played with one for 15 mins and bought it on the spot.

I however wish I couldve gotten a HVX back then.....I love that camera, of course it is newer etc....

The short answer: because I'm a poor college student. I got the best camera that I could afford in my current financial situation.

I also had a PD150 at one point, which I liked a lot but had to sell because I was leaving the country for a year and needed some extra money. I just got back a few months ago and haven't done enough weddings since returning to be able to afford an HVX. Someday, though.
