Making Subclips out of groups or 2 system sync sound files

Hey Everyone,

I'm trying to figure out how to make subclips out of a Group event such as when I have synced audio from a 2 system shoot. I can get the audio in sync and Group the audio with the video on the Timeline, but when I try to make a subclip it makes a subclip of the audio and the video separately and they exist as separate clips in my Project Media Bin. I know I can Render to Track a new file that is the combined audio/video synced, but that is a pain.

I feel like there is a simple solution for this but I can't figure it out. It was very simple in Avid and FCP when I used those back in the day.

Can anyone tell me how to make a Group of unique clips into a new subclip or clip in my Project Media Bin?

Or at least describe their 2 system sync sound workflow?

A method I used in one project was syncing audio and video then saving it as it's own Vegas Project veg then in my main project I would edit using the .vegs nested. This is a workflow, but it was fairly tedious.

Thanks,
Andy

I will work with two or three cameras and 1 or two stereo recorders which I then sync together using pluraleyes for Vegas. The are usally theatrical scenes that can run from 30 to 60 minutes. I then use the same technique you describe, saving each synced and edited act as a .veg file and assembling the veg files into a Master file. I find it very quick and easy.

Thanks for the response Fredrick.

I think that maybe when I did the syncing and saving as a .veg file was maybe when I didn't know the Vegas controls very well and because I was syncing manually without Pluraleyes. If I use Regions in the sync veg then in the master Vegas Project I can make a subclip of the region in the trimmer. It's actually not that bad, but having it work all in one Vegas project would save a step.

Please let me know if anyone has another workflow.

Thanks again,
Andy
